As cases of COVID-19 see a consistent drop in the country, backed by a solid drive for vaccination, moviemakers are slowly returning to cinemas, encouraged by the changing scenario. On October 29, the Delhi government announced that cinemas in the national capital could operate at full capacity from November 1. This comes ahead of a major film release this Friday- Sooryavanshi, starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the lead.

However, several films are still lined up for OTT release this month and in December, perhaps due to pacts that were signed with streaming platforms some months ago, when the COVID-19 situation still seemed unpredictable. Suriya's Jai Bhim and Saniya Malhotra starter Meenakshi Sundareshwar both will have their OTT release this week.

Jai Bhim cast

Apart from Suriya, this TJ Gnanavel directorial also features Lijomol Jose, Prakash Raj, Rajisha Vijayan and Rao Ramesh in key roles.

What is Jai Bhim about?

Apparently based on a real incident that took place in the 1990s, Jai Bhim is a courtroom drama that will see Suriya play the role of an advocate fighting for the rights of a couple from a marginalised community. Set in Tamil Nadu, the story revolves around Senggeni and Rajakannu- a couple coming from the Irular tribe. When Rajakannu is falsely accused of a crime and goes missing from police custody subsequently, Senggeni approaches advocate Chandru seeking help. The film is said to be based on the life and experience of Justice Chandru.
