Where to watch Boomika: Tamil horror-thriller Boomika, starring actor Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead, starts streaming on OTT today. Like many films, Bollywood and regional alike, makers of Boomika opted for an OTT release of the film instead of a theatrical one. However, as cinemas gradually open up for viewers, thanks to slump in COVID-19 cases across the country, there is much confusion about the release of many upcoming films, including Boomika. So here's what we know so far.
Written and directed by Rathindran R Prasad, Boomika is a fable that intends to spread awareness on treatment of "mother nature" by humans and how it needs to change.
Cast of Boomika
The film will see popular Tamil-language actor Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead. She plays the role of a psychologist in the film, who lives in near Ooty with her husband and son. The actor who has worked in films of multiple regional languages was seen earlier this year in the film Thittam Irandu. Some of her most notable films include Kanaa, Vada Chennai, Kaaka Muttai and Attakathi.
Apart from Rajesh the film also features actors Vidhu, Avantika Vandanapu, Madhuri Jain and Surya Ganapathy in key roles.
Plot of Boomika
Purported to be an eco-horror thriller, ">Boomika is about a psychologist named Samyuktha, played by Rajesh, who lives in a quaint village near Ooty with her family. When her husband, a real-estate project manager, join hands with an architect for a project and the family moves to a desolate mansion for a retreat, things take an eerie turn with paranormal activities taking over the narrative. Will Samyuktha manage to save her family? What has led to the mysterious events at the mansion and does it have an ecological connection- this forms the crux of the film.
