The movie narrates the how the Indian cricket team lifted the first cricket world cup for the country with Kapil Dev as its captain. 83 is based on India's historic victory. It is directed by Kabir Khan and it is set for a theatrical release.
Star cast
The film has an ensemble cast. Ranveer Singh essays the character of Indian cricketer Kapil Dev while Deepika Padukone will be playing the role of his wife Romila Dev. Other characters in the movie include Jiiva, Tahir Raj Bhavan, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Pankaj Tripathi amongst others. Punjabi singers Harrdy Sandhu and Ammy Virk are also part of the ensemble. Sandhu plays the role of cricketer Madan Lal in the film.

30 November was the date when the trailer of the movie was released on YouTube. It has managed to clock 72,549,502 views so far. The trailer shows how India which had very less chances of winning emerged as the victors in the end. The final match against West Indies was played on June 25, 1983.
Interestingly, the trailer of this movie was played on Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. Both Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone were present to watch it.
