When is Saina releasing? Starring Parineeti Chopra the movie Saina is creating impressive buzz, being a biopic of badminton star Saina Nehwal who broke numerous ceilings for Indian women players in the field. Since Saina Nehwal has many honours to her name (winning two Commonwealth Games gold medals for her country, for instance) she is considered an inspiring sports figure for young girls in India. So it is natural for viewers to have high expectations from a film that promises to capture all the aspects of her inspiring story.
The trailer of the movie, that was released on the eve of International Women's Day this year, depicts the setbacks faced by her family and and the athlete herself while trying to realise her dream of becoming the best badminton player in the world. On March 15, the first song from the film was released as a built up to its theatrical release, primarily featuring Chopra as Nehwal and actor Manav Kaul as her coach.
Saina, directed by Amole Gupte is set to release on the 26th of March 2021. Apart from Parineeti Chopra playing Saina and Manav Kaul as her coach, the film also features Paresh Rawal as Saina's father Harvir Singh Nehwal. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Sujay Jairaj, and Rashesh Shah under the banner of T-Series and Front Foot Pictures.
The poster of the film was trolled online on its release earlier this month, due to alleged goof-up on the part of makers. Netizens were quick to point out a”mistake” the makers had made regarding badminton serve that is apparently depicted in poster.
On her strategy to deal with trolls, Parineeti Chopra said, "I function very differently. If I find criticism valid, I will take up sportingly. But if I don’t find any merit in it then I ignore it."
