Samantha Ruth Prabhu Responds To 'Another Weight Comment'

In a recent Instagram Q&A with fans, Samantha responded to the comment in a video, saying, “Another weight comment. I even saw a whole thread about my weight. If you really want to know, I am on a strict anti-inflammatory diet due to my condition, which keeps my weight stable and helps me manage my health (myositis).”

Samantha urged fans to be more understanding, saying, "Stop judging people. Let them be. Live and let live, please. It’s 2024.” She has previously shared insights into her anti-inflammatory diet, which helps her manage her autoimmune condition. This diet requires her to stay within a certain weight range, supporting her health while controlling inflammation.

Samantha even faced trolling during her last film's promotions, where a verified Twitter handle claimed she lost her 'glow' due to myositis. The handle posted her pictures from the launch, insensitively commenting on her appearance after the diagnosis. The tweet that read: "Feeling sad for Samantha. She lost all her charm and glow. When everyone thought she came out of divorce strongly and her professional life is seeing heights, myositis hit her badly, making her weak again."

However, she responded gracefully, highlighting the indifference in the tweet and sharing her experience with treatment. She wished the individual well and sent love their way. She wrote, "I pray you never have to go through months of treatment and medication like I did. And here’s some love from me to add to your glow."

Samantha took to social media to share that she has been suffering from an autoimmune medical condition called myositis in October 2022. The actor in a note revealed that she is currently under treatment. She uploaded a photo from the hospital along with a note that read, "A few months back, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called Myositis. I was hoping to share this after it had gone into remission. But it is taking a little longer than I hoped.”

She further added, “I am slowly realising that we don’t always need to put up a strong front. Accepting this vulnerability is something that I am still struggling with. The doctors are confident that I will make a complete recovery very soon. I have had good days and bad days…. physically and emotionally…. and even when it feels like I can’t handle one more day of this, somehow that moment passes. I guess it can only mean that I am one more day closer to recovery.”

What is Myositis?

Myositis is a general description of chronic, progressive inflammation of the muscles. Some types of myositis are even associated with skin rashes. Symptoms can appear rapidly or gradually over time. Primary symptoms include muscle pain and soreness, fatigue, trouble swallowing, and difficulty breathing.

According to Healthline, women are more likely to be affected by this disease than men. There are five types of myositis: dermatomyositis, inclusion-body myositis, juvenile myositis, polymyositis and toxic myositis

Myositis is thought to be an autoimmune condition that causes the body to attack the muscles. Most cases don’t have a known cause. However, it’s said that injury and infection may play a role.

Treatment

There are no specific medications that treat myositis. Due to the nature of this disease, it may take several changes and experiments in treatment for a doctor to find the right treatment plan for you. Work with your doctor until the best course of action is achieved.

Physical therapy, exercise, stretching, and yoga can help keep muscles strong and flexible and prevent muscle atrophy.
