In a LinkedIn post, Blackburn revealed how she sent the cake resume to Nike. She wrote, “A couple of weeks ago, I sent my resume on a cake to Nike. The woman authored an elaborate piece on LinkedIn explaining why she came up with the notion of printing her resume on a cake as opposed to the conventional method. They are not currently hiring for any positions on that team, but I wanted to find some way for the team to know who I was. What better way than to send a cake to a big party."

The post has now gone viral on the networking platform. She also explained her reasons for doing it. Blackburn added that She received a recommendation from a friend to print her resume on top of a cake and mail it to the Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, rather than submitting a standard job application. After doing some research, she took the decision to send the cake on the day when there was a celebration at the corporate headquarters.

Blackburn described how she got the cake and the challenges she faced while delivering it. She wrote, "I found Albertsons Grocery Store made cakes with edible picture images on top, and we all know Instacart delivers." Further added, " I knew navigating Nike’s large campus was a feat, but combining a giant party with tons of people on top of that adds another layer of complexity to this delivery."

Blackburn's idea received mixed reactions. Some people applauded her innovative thinking and said it was a wonderful idea, while others termed it a gimmick. A user said, "While this is a creative idea, I think the part that went wrong was the lack of research/relationship with the hiring manager." Few also attempted to hire her, a user wrote, "I love the creativity of this! I see some marketing experience on there and wanted to let you know that I'm currently hiring for a marketing lead!"
