Actor Vidya Balan took to her official social media accounts on August 12 to announce the commencement of the shoot for Jalsa, her upcoming 2022 release. The movie is to be co-starred by Ajeeb Daastaans' fame Shefali Shah.
Balan wrote in a tweet on Monday, "Beyond excited to reunite with Suresh Triveni and to team-up with the brilliant Shefali Shah to create something special," with a video revealing the commencement of the shooting.
The video further revealed that the film will be helmed by Suresh Triveni and this is his second collaboration with Balan after Tumhari Sulu. Along with directing, Triveni has also co-written the film.

Triveni, on the other hand, shared that it was his "absolute pleasure to collaborate with T-Series and Abundantia Entertainment and to work with his fantastic crew and cast led by Vidya and Shefali".
"With Jalsa, we hope to engage, thrill and entertain movie-watchers," he added, "with a unique tale of powerful characters and precarious circumstances”.
Jalsa Cast
Touted to release in 2022, the cast of Jalsa also comprises other promising actors apart from Balan and Shah. 70-year-old actor Rohini Hattangadi who appeared in the Sanjay Dutt starrer movie Munna Bhai MBBS and Saaransh will also be a part of the film, according to reports.
Gurpal Singh, the actor who is known for his performance in Bewakoofiyaan and Sankat City will also be a part of the cast.
Notable actor Manav Kaul who appeared in Tumhari Sulu as Balan's husband, Ajeeb Daastaans and Madam Chief Minister will make a special appearance in the film.
Other cast members include Indian Television as well as Bollywood actor Iqbal Khan, Vidhatri Bandi and film debutant Surya Kasibhatla.
Jalsa is written by Prajwal Chandrashekar and co-written by Suresh Triveni with dialogues by Hussain and Abbas Dalal.
