Vidya Balan photoshop: Taking a stand against unrealistic beauty standards, actor Vidya Balan has put down rules on how her pictures are to be used. Reportedly, she has asked photographers and magazines to avoid re-touching her pictures.
Balan does not want to create any illusions about her body. In a recent interview, esteemed photographer Dabboo Ratnani revealed that Balan is comfortable in her own skin.
Talking to Mid-Day, photographer Dabboo Ratnani said that he tries to achieve the best lighting on the set itself and keeps the 'post-treatment of pictures' minimal. This is all the more important with the Sherni actor because she does not like her images to be re-touched. "She is comfortable in her own skin, and doesn't want to be made slimmer for pictures," he added.
During magazine shoots, she tells the editorial team that her pictures should not have any re-touching. They should only be colour-corrected and shared. Ratnani further said that if the flooring or the leaves in the background need colour correction, they do that. But they don't re-touch Balan's image.
In an earlier interview Balan revealed that she hated her body for a long time. "It was important for me to have gone through what I did. It was very public and at that time it was so insurmountable," she told Times of India. Since she comes from a non-film family, there was no one to tell her that these phases don't last. Concerns regarding her weight had become a "national issue". The Shakuntala Devi actor added she has always been a 'fat girl'. Though her fluctuating weight has not stopped bothering her, she has come a long way.
Balan made it to the headlines in July this year for being invited to join the governing body behind the Oscars, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She was acknowledged for her performance in Kahaani and Tumhari Sulu. Read more here.
