Work At A Glance: Varsha Bollamma’s Prominent Roles So Far

Varsha Bollamma best roles: Actor Varsha Bollamma is all set to appear on the screen in upcoming movie Stand Up Rahul. Her first look in the film was unveiled by the makers last week. Paired opposite Raj Tarun, Bollamma will play an atypical and funny person, Sreya Rao, in Stand Up Rahul.

The poster featurea Varsha Bollamma donning an unusual hairstyle with spectacles and braces. Before her advent to the film industry, Varsha caught the public’s eyes after one of her Dubsmash videos went viral. The actor was seen impersonating actor Nazariya Nazim’s dialogue from the movie Raja Rani. Many viewers pointed out at similarities in appearance between Nazim and Bollamma, propelling the later into limelight.

Here are some of the most prominent roles of Varsha Bollamma so far:

 Ivan Yarendru Therikiratha

The Tamil romantic drama was one of the first films that got  Varsha Bollamma appreciation from critics and regional audiences alike. Released in 2017, Bollamma plays the lead role alongside television actors Vishnu and Ishaara Nair in this film. Varsha plays the role of Savithri, a sub-inspector who is Vishnu’s character potential love interest in the film. Ivan Yarendru is Varsha’s second film as a lead after making her debut in Sathuran (2015). “Not even in my wildest dreams did I think that I would play a cop.” Varsha was quoted saying to Cinema Express.

 Yaanum Theeyavan

This action thriller that claims to be inspired by real-life incidents. Bollamma plays the role of a college student in the film. The story chronicles the life of a girl after eloping with her boyfriend. The film also marked the debut of Ashwin Jerome, the film’s male lead. Apart from Bollamma and Jerome the film also features Raju Sundaram and has been directed by debutant direct Prasanth G Sekar.

Middle-Class Melodies

The Telegu comedy-drama film stars Bollamma and Anand Deverakondain lead roles while popular names like Chaitanya Garikipati, Divya Sripada and Surabhi Prabhavati play supporting roles. The film marked Bollamma’s debut on OTT; as the film was released on Prime Video in 2020. Varsha plays the role of Sandhya, the love interest of Raghava (Anand Devarakonda). She also dubbed for her part in the movie in Kannada, Tamil, and Malayalam languages.

While the film stars Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha in lead roles, Bollamma has a cameo in this hit 2018 film as a trainee photographer. Bollamma interestingly went on to reprise the same role in Telugu remake of the the film- Jaanu, featuring  Sharwanand and Samantha Akkineni in the lead. She is the only cast member from the original Tamil film, apart from Gouri G Kishan who reprised their roles in the Telugu remake.

Choosi Choodangaane

In Choosi Choodangaane, Varsha plays the role of Shruti, a woman who stirs up the romantic life of Siddu (Shiva Kandukuri). Despite the film’s low reception, both audience and critics appreciated Bollamma's characterisation and performance in the film. Apart from Bollamma, the film also featured Shiva Kandukuri and Malavika Satheesan.
