Urmilla Kanetkar: Kriti Sanon starrer Mimi released recently. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the movie is the story of a surrogate mother from Rajasthan, who aspires to become a Bollywood actor. Mimi is the Hindi remake of the National Award winning Marathi film Mala Aai Vhhaychy! directed by Samruddhi Porey based on the rising surrogacy practices in India. Urmilla Kanetkar is the actor who played the female protagonist of Yashoda in the original Marathi movie Mala Aai Vahhaychy!.

- Urmilla Kanetkar Kothare is an Indian film actress who works predominantly in Marathi cinema and television.
- Kanetkar was born on 4th May, 1986 in Pune, Maharashtra.
- She is an alumna of the St. Xaviers College in Mumbai and has done Bachelors in Arts from there.
- Kanetkar is famous for her roles in many Marathi films like Shubha Mangal Saavadhan, Ti Saddhya Kay Karte and Duniyadari.
- She has also worked extensively in Television starring in Hindi daily soaps like Maayka and Mera Sasural and Marathi TV serials like Asambhav, Uun Paus and Goshta Eka Lagnachi.
- Kanetkar made her debut in Telugu cinema in 2014 with Welcome Obama, the Telugu remake of Mala Aai Vhhaychy!.
- Kanetkar is a trained classical kathak ">dancer and also has a Master of Arts degree in it.
- She has also taken lessons in Odissi from Sujata Mohapatra, well-known Indian classical dancer and teacher of Odissi dancing style.
