Urmila Matondkar is a well-known face for her entertaining performances in Bollywood movies. The actor has worked with leading actors as well as directors during her film career. She has also been a familiar face in Maharashtra politics as a part of Shiv Sena. The actor-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar will be turning 48 on February 4.

Film Career

The actor started her Bollywood career as a child artist in 1980 with film Kalyug. Matondkar has worked with leading Bollywood actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Sunny Deol and Rishi Kapoor among others. She is best known for her role in Ram Gopal Varma’s Rangeela with Aamir Khan and Jackie Shroff. Along with Hindi-film industry, Matondkar has also worked in Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam language films.

Political Career

Urmila Matondkar started her political career as Congress candidate from Mumbai North constituency during 2019 Lok Sabha elections which she lost. Then she resigned from the party after six months on the grounds of in-house politics against her. Matondkar was then approached by Shiv Sena and was welcomed in the party in 2020 with the hopes that she will represent party’s interest being a Marathi girl herself.

Matondkar also shared common rift against Kangana Ranaut along with Shiv Sena. The actor had slammed Ranaut for calling her a ‘soft porn star’ while Shiv Sena had been calling Ranaut out for her remarks about Mumbai Police and comparing Mumbai with Pakistan occupied Kashmir.

Views on Motherhood

Matondkar does not hold the conventional views about motherhood. Speaking to Times of India, she mentioned that it isn’t necessary for every woman to become a mother and it should for the right reason. She admitted that she loves children but also said that it is not necessary for a woman to give birth to love and care for a child in order to embrace motherhood.
