Everything To Know About The Witcher Season 3 Release Date

After its first two seasons delivered on the promise of entertainment and thrill, fans are eagerly waiting for the release of The Witcher season 3 now. The fantasy show, based on a video game by the same name is powered by an impressive cast and intriguing story.

The announcement regarding the shoot of season 3 was shared by the show's makers on April 4, along with a picture of actors Henry Cavill and Freya Allan. "Our family is back together again. #TheWitcher Season 3 is officially in production!" said the tweet. Along with the picture, the team also shared the official synopsis for the show. "As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly-united family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri's magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl's untapped powers," it read.

The statement further read, "...Instead they discover they've landed on a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back corruption, dark magic and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line--or risk losing each other forever."

Season 3 will be a continuation of the incidents that took place in season 2. In the last season, Ciri's true power as the child of the Elder Blood was revealed and viewers learned that she was capable of opening the portals between other worlds and has the capacity to release monsters upon the Continent.

The show is directed by Stephen Surjik, who has made Reacher and The Umbrella Academy Gandja Monterio, who is the force behind Brand New Cherry Flavor and The Chi; Loni Peristere, who made the American Horror Story and A Series of Unfortunate Events; and Bola Ogun, who made the Raising Dion and Lucifer.

The new cast and characters that will make their debut with the upcoming season are Robbie Amell as Gallatin, Meng'er Zhang as Milva, Hugh Skinner as Prince Radovid and Christelle Elwin as Mistle, amongst others.
