The Hunger Games' prequel film, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, has got a premiere date. Interestingly, that date is the same pre-Thanksgiving corridor where The Hunger Games sequels Catching Fire, Mockingjay Part One and Mockingjay Part Two opened.
Plot of the movie
It is based on the book of the same name by Suzanne Collins which takes place years before the action in The Hunger Games. The book was released in 2020 and it revolves around a younger Coriolanus Snow (played by Donald Sutherland in the films), the primary villain of The Hunger Games. Even before the book hit shelves, Lionsgate announced it was in development on a film adaptation. The movie The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will follow the same plot as the book. It will show an 18-year-old Snow mentor a District 12 tribute in the 10th Hunger Games.
No cast members have been announced yet. The movie will be directed by Francis Lawrence. He is the same person who directed three of the other movies in The Hunger Games franchise. Interestingly, The Hunger Games is one of the studio's most successful franchises.
