Television Actor Rupali Ganguly Tests Positive For COVID-19

Rupali Ganguly wrote, “This is the kind of positive I didn’t want to be.” She revealed to be "mild to asymptomatic" and is presently self-quarantined at home.

Rupali Ganguly tests positive for COVID-19: Anupamaa co-stars Rupali Ganguly and Aashish Mehrotra have tested positive for COVID-19. Ganguly took to social media on Friday and shared that she had tested positive for the disease. She wrote, “This is the kind of positive I didn’t want to be.” She revealed that she was experiencing "mild to asymptomatic" and is presently self-quarantined at home.

Confirming the news in an official statement, the show's producer Rajan Shahi on Thursday said that Ganguly is "asymptomatic" and "doing well" for now. He said she is taking all the necessary precautions and will be remaining in quarantine at home. "I wish Rupali a speedy recovery," he added. Shahi further said that his production house is "committed to the safety of our cast and crew."

"I have ensured that all guidelines are followed on the set," he added saying that the Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been informed and the sets of the show are being fumigated and sterilised as per safety protocol. In the show, Ganguly plays Anupamaa, a doting housewife who embarks on a journey of self-discovery.

In her post, Ganguly urged people to stay indoors and apologised to her fans for the inconvenience caused to them due to the interruption in shooting of the popular show. “Take care and stay safe everyone and keep showering ur love on my family and Anupamaa family. Sorry for letting u and Rudransh down @ashwinkverma and the entire unit down @rajan.shahi.543 despite u taking all the precautions," she stated. "Pata nahi kahan se kaise ho gaya …,” she added. ( I don't know how it happened)

She also revealed that everyone on the sets of Anupamaa is undergoing tests. Talking about shooting in the times of coronavirus, she had said in an interview last year that she was even scared to touch her son. "The moment I return from the shoot, I take a shower and then immediately wear a mask and go to my room where I am living in isolation, said Ganguly, adding that  after she leaves for shoot her room is properly sanitised.

Ganguly is married to Ashwin K Verma and has a son named Rudransh, who is five years old. Talking about her son and how working during the pandemic has impacted him, she ever since his birth he had never slept away from her. "I am so used to having him by my side. But I can’t do that now. And in fact, whenever I get all emotional and want to physically hug or kiss him, I give a kiss on his feet, even there I am afraid.”

Her co-star Mehrotra, who plays Ganguly's elder son on the show, had tested positive a few days ago.

Ganguly is known for her iconic character Monisha Sarabhai from the popular comedy show Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. She also played a key role in medical drama Sanjivani.
