Taylor Swift's Anti-Hero

Taylor Swift's Anti-Hero is a reflection on the singer's journey from 2016 and the endless criticism she faced over time. The song has lyrics like, "Midnights become my afternoons / When my depression works the graveyard shift / All of the people I’ve ghosted stand there in the room" which take listeners to the time when she was at the lowest of her mental health. The drama around the Kanye West incident and then Katy Perry put the singer in turmoil which she channelised into her songs.

Taylor Swift, in an old interview, talked about the hate she received after her feud with Kanye West and how it had a toll on her mental health when people called her 'cancelled'. She said, "I realized I needed to restructure my life because it felt completely out of control. I knew immediately I needed to make music about it because I knew it was the only way I could survive it."

Though she wrote her emotions in subsequent songs and albums, Anti-Hero captures what she thought about her then-distorted image. The nights that she spent in depression and thinking about what if she lost the people she loved the most. Not to forget, 2016 was the time around which the singer started dating Joe Alwyn and the couple is apparently going strong, keeping their relationship under the radar. She hinted at her fear of losing her relationship in her lyrics.
