Supriya Pilgaonkar birthday: Television's favourite Supriya Pilgaonkar celebrates her birthday on August 17.

Marathi cinema's popular actor, Supriya made her acting debut in a play called Mahatare Arka Baiyit Garka in 1984. She started her acting career with the film Navri Mile Navryala in the same year, directed by her husband Sachin Pilgaonkar. Since then, she has done several noteworthy films in Hindi and Marathi cinema. But did you know Supriya never planned it out to be an actor?

The actor rose to prominence with her performance in the television comedy-drama Tu Tu Main Main (1994-2000), also directed by Sachin Pilgaonkar. On the occasion of his birthday, her actor-filmmaker husband posted a video where he can be seen singing a song for his wife Chand Si Menbooba Ho from the film Himalay ki God Mein. He also wrote a heartwarming note for Supriya. She and Sachin have their birthdays together and both celebrate them on the same day every year. She is predominantly known for her shows Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi and Sasural Genda Phool. Pilgaonkar also starred in movies like Navri Mile Navryala, Majha Pati Karodpati and Ashi Hi Banwa Banvi.

1.Destined to be an actor

The actor who has spent 27 years in the industry as an actor, in a recent interview told ETimes that she never set out to be an actor. "Maybe I was cut out to be an actor and I feel I was also destined to be an actor," she adds. More here.

2. How Supriya and Sachin met

She is married to actor Sachin Pilgaonkar, they met while shooting for a Marathi film Navri Mile Navryala. Directed by Sachin, the comedy film tells the story of two marginalised characters, Jairam (Sachin) and Chameli (Supriya), who work as house helps. The two actors fell in love and got married in 1985.

3. Supriya was 21 when became a mother

The actor met her future husband, 11 years her senior, on the sets of her first film and she was only 21-year-old when she became a mother. Calling them "good parents", their daughter Shriya Pilgaonkar revealed that they were always there for her while growing up and balanced their work and parenthood beautifully. The only time she felt a little awkward was when Tu Tu Main Main (her mother's popular daily soap in the 90s) was at its peak.

4. Sachin refers to his wife as 'Super'

Married for 30 years, Sachin and Supriya partnered up for Nach Baliye and won in 2005. Sachin fondly calls his wife 'Super' and they share a mutual respect as partners, parents and professionals.

5. Working amid COVID-19

Supriya is one of the few senior actors who have made their way back on sets post-COVID-19 lockdown. She had appeared on the sets of Super Dancer recently and had even shot for a new television show's promos. In fact, actor Shaheer Sheikh had to convince her for Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi 3. The on-screen mother-son duo has made a special place in the hearts of the audience by giving brilliant performances.

Most recently, she shared that she would be reprising her role in Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi - Nayi Kahani as Ishwari Dixit. In the show, Supriya plays Devrath Dixit's mother.
