Sridevi starrer English Vinglish is all set to complete 10 years on October 10. To honour the movie, its journey, and its legacy, a special screening of English Vinglish will be hosted in the city. On that particular day, the sarees she wore in the movie will also be auctioned off.
Sridevi was one of the most well-known stars in Indian cinema. Her dynamic on-screen appearance and powerful performances made her a pan-Indian celebrity, who garnered a huge fan base. She took a break from acting in 1997, but with the success of 2012's English Vinglish, she made a triumphant return to the big screen.
In English Vinglish, Shashi, played by Sridevi, is teased for not knowing English, but she ends up learning the language and discovering a lot more about herself in the process. English Vinglish also starred Adil Hussain, Mehdi Nebbou and Priya Anand. On October 10, the movie will celebrate its tenth anniversary.
Sridevi Sarees From English Vinglish To Be Auctioned
Gauri Shinde made her directorial debut with this comedy-drama. Shinde has shared details of her plans for the special occasion. In an interview, the filmmaker stated that she plans to auction the sarees worn by Sridevi in the movie. According to her plans, the money from the auction will then be donated to an NGO.

Shinde told Indian Express, "On October 10, there will be a screening in Andheri as part of our celebration of English Vinglish's tenth anniversary. That is the tentative plan: we will hold a screening, invite people, and then have a discussion about the movie. We will also auction off her sarees, which I had up till now stored very safely. "
She added, "We are auctioning off the sarees that Sridevi wore in the movie as Shashi. It would be used by my NGO to promote girls' education. I always wanted to do this, but it never happened. I thought now, this would be the most befitting. " Shinde was inspired by her mother to write the film, which followed a woman's remarkable journey as she established herself both personally and professionally.
Following her comeback with English Vinglish, Sridevi appeared in movies like the Hindi murder thriller Mom and the Tamil fantasy action-adventure Puli. She passed away in February of 2018.
