Sonali Phogat, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, actor, and popular Tik-Tok user passed away on Tuesday in Goa from a suspected heart attack. About 12 hours before her passing, Phogat, who ran in the most recent Haryana assembly election, changed her profile image on social media.
Media reports state that Phogat made her television debut in 2006 as an anchor for a regional show on Doordarshan. She started her acting career in 2016 with the TV series Ek Maa Jo Laakhon Ke Liye Bani Amma. She then made multiple appearances in Haryanvi and Punjabi movies and music videos. After competing as a wildcard competitor in the TV series Big Boss 14 in the year 2020, Sonali Phogat quickly rose to fame.
Phogat ran in the most recent general election from the Adampur Assembly constituency on the BJP's ticket against Kuldeep Bishnoi, however, she lost. A video of the BJP leader punching Sultan Singh, the secretary of the market committee, went viral in 2020. She said that Singh made derogatory statements about her and that she lost control of his rage and hit her. Singh claimed he never abused her. Complaints were made against each other by both parties.

Phogat, along with some of her staff, had travelled to Goa. According to reports, she was taken to St Anthony's Hospital at Anjuna in the North Goa area on Monday night after she reported feeling uneasy.
She was brought dead to the hospital, according to Jivba Dalvi, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Mapusa). He stated, "The cause of death is determined as a heart attack at this time, but additional medical testing is ongoing." According to the official, the post-mortem would be performed at the government-run Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim.

In an old interview, Phogat talked about her challenges and how she got married soon after finishing class 10. She also described how the people abused her emotionally following the passing of her husband, Sanjay Phogat. In 2016, her husband was reportedly discovered dead under suspicious circumstances. His relatives discovered his death in a field next to their farmhouse. She had previously claimed that her late husband had always been in favour of her decisions and had encouraged her to pursue acting and a career in politics. She is survived by her parents, a brother, and a daughter named Yashodhara Phogat.
