Boy Turned Man: Sonali Bendre Shares Special Post To Mark Son Ranveer's 16th Birthday

Actor Sonali Bendre married filmmaker Goldie Behl in 2002, and welcomed son Ranveer in 2005.

Sonali Bendre son turns 16: Actor and author Bendre and filmmaker Goldie Behl's son, Ranveer Behl, turns 16 today. To mark the occasion, the actor took to her Instagram handle on August 11 and shared a birthday post for her son. The actor shared a video montage featuring old and new pictures with Ranveer and showered love on him, saying that her "boy turned man".

In the shared video, fans got a glimpse of Ranveer's childhood and teenage images, also featuring his mother. The actor who was diagnosed with metastatic cancer in July 2018 can be seen holding newborn Ranveer in her arms in one of the images featured in the video montage.

Ranveer's father Goldie Behl also took to social media and wished his son. Behl shared a couple of images in which he can be seen teaching the 16-year-old how to shave, writing, "From carrying you on my shoulder to standing shoulder to shoulder with you, it's been an amazing journey. As you stand at the cusp of adulthood, I am really proud of the person you have become." He advised his son to continue to grow, learn and explore life.

Bendre and Behl tied the knot in 2002 and became parents to Ranveer in 2005. After her cancer diagnosis, Bendre went to New York for treatment and only returned to Mumbai in early December 2018. Earlier she had opened up on her relationship with her son and how their bond grew stronger during when she was battling cancer.

In an interview on the podcast Raising Parents, Bendre shared, "I am not my child’s friend and don’t think I need to be." She had further added that she can be a friendly parent and have a great time with him but for certain things, he will rather speak with his father or to his friends. There needs to be an outlet for healthy relationships, said Bendre. She said that while her kid might know technology more than she does, but even as a grown-up his brain is not fully formed and might not be able to process the emotional part of life, and that’s where parents come in. "It’s an investment in communication and it always pays off," she had told her son.

She had also revealed that she avoids lying to her son, "If I expect my child to be truthful, I need to be true to him."

Bendre is known for her performance in films like Sarfarosh, Hum Saath-Saath Hain and Major Saab. She was last seen as a judge on the television reality show India's Best Dramebaaz and recently appeared on dance reality show Super Dancer Chapter 4.
