Soma Rathod, who grew to fame with her role of Amma Ji in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain, recently opened up about how she had to gain weight in order to get work in the television industry. She also talked about how her fans were delighted when she shared a throwback picture of her younger days through her Instagram handle.

- The 37-year-old actress is known for her comic timing in the show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain.
- She is currently seen in a SAB TV sitcom Jijaji Chhat Parr Koii Hai that stars Shubhashish Jha, Hiba Nawab, Jitu Shivhare, Anup Upadhyay among others. Sophia Bakshi Sharma is the name of her character.
- She was neither fat nor thin when she had started looking for work in the industry. But a friend recommended her to gain weight to fit in the category of oversized actors which would help her in getting work. Her friend's advice worked in her favour.
- She was also offered a cameo in the show Lapataganj. Interestingly, she received so much love for her role that she ended up doing that show for four and a half years.
- Now, she strongly feels that actors should be judged by their talent and skills and not physical appearance.
- The actress has been working in the television industry for over a decade now.
- In an interview with TOI, she shared that she wanted to be a teacher and later a cop after growing up. Later, she decided to opt for acting as the profession gave her the platform to play multiple roles.
