Trailer Of Shruti Haasan-Starrer Web Series "Bestseller" Out Now

Bestseller trailer was unveiled on February 8, revealing the intricate plot that revolves around an author dealing with a thought block and his mysterious new muse. The show stars Shruti Haasan, Gauahar Khan, Mithun Chakraborty and Arjan Bajwa in lead roles.

Produced by Siddharth P Malhotra and directed by Mukul Abhyankar, Bestseller draws us into the life of author Tahir Wazir, who comes up with the idea for his next book after meeting a woman at a cafe. Despite its unique ensemble cast, the web-series seems to have a run-of-the-mill approach to thrillers, offering a surreal take on writers and their lives, which seems far from reality.

What is Bestseller about?

The ">trailer starts by introducing us to a novelist, Tahir Wazir, played by Arjan Bajwa. One day, he meets a huge fan of his novels, Meetu Mathur, played by Shruti Haasan at a cafe where she works as a barista. Tahir takes an interest in the scars on one of her wrists and asks for the story behind them and as he gets to know it, he decides to make it the plot of his next novel. However, life takes a turn and we see an anonymous person attacking Tahir and his career through his family and Meetu.

The official synopsis of the series says, "Tahir Wazir, one of India’s most celebrated novelists has failed to write anything for a long time since his last book became a bestseller 10 years ago. He seems to have hit writer’s block and needs inspiration. Meetu Mathur, a young, innocent girl comes into his life one day seeking his blessing. She is his huge fan, a writer herself, and she needs his guidance. Tahir finds the needed inspiration in her life’s story and starts writing his next novel based on it. About the same time, Parth Acharya joins his wife Mayanka, a celebrated ad film director as her assistant but seems to have something vicious planned for Tahir Wazir. What starts off as a simple war of words leads to chaos, drama, and death. As the events unfold, ACP Lokesh steps in to investigate and unravel the mystery. Will Tahir be able to write another bestseller? The 8 intriguing, mysterious labyrinth-like chapters will give the answers."

The eight-episode show goes into the details of Tahir's entire journey of revealing the truth, proving his innocence, finding the real culprit and writing his novel as well. The show features Gauahar Khan as Tahir's wife and Mithun Chakraborty as a cop investigating the matter. Actors Sonalee Kulkarni and Satyajeet Dubeytoo feature in pivotal roles.

The series will be available for streaming from February 18.
