Shilpa Shetty Hotshots controversy: Actor Shilpa Shetty, whose husband Raj Kundra is currently in custody of Mumbai Police's crime branch in connection with a porn app case, recorded her statement on Friday. Kundra was arrested on July 19 for alleged production and publication of porn films via a mobile app called Hotshots that he reportedly owns.
Kundra's custody was further extended to July 27 on Friday, and subsequently the police also raided the couple's bungalow in Juhu to gather evidence. Kundra was also present at his home during the raid. The police also recorded Shetty's statement in the case on July 23, based on suspicion that she may have had prior knowledge about Kundra's business and Hotshots app.
According to a Mid-day report, Shetty allegedly told the police that the videos in question could be categorised as erotica, not porn. The report further claims that Shetty had dissociated herself from Kundra's entire business, also adding that she wasn't aware of porn videos as claimed by the police.
An officer involved in the case said that as per Shetty, the movies available on Hotshot are not pornography but erotica. "She also said that nowadays, similar content is available on the various OTT platforms and in fact, some are more obscene than what is available on Hotshot," the officer added.
During the interrogation, Shetty was reportedly also asked about her exit from Kundra's company Viaan in 2020, which is said to be behind the Hotshots app.
