Sidharth Malhotra And Kiara Advani Starrer Shershaah To Release On This Date

Shershaah release date: The film Shershaah, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani, is heading for an OTT release this year. The film is based on life of Martyred Captain Vikram Batra of the Indian Army who is still remebered for display of valour during the Kargil War.

Sharing a teaser of the film recently, Malhotra wrote, "Heroes live on through their stories." He shared it was a long journey for him and that he is "proud" to play a "real life character". He also revealed that the film will start streaming on OTT from August 12.

Shershaah marks the Bollywood debut of director Vishnu Vardhan, who is predominantly known for his work in Tamil films such as Sarvam and Arinthum Ariyamalum. It chronicles the true story of Kargil war hero, Captain Vikram Batra, who was awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his bravery. Malhotra is playing a role inspired by Captain Vikram Batra. The drama also stars Kiara Advani in a key role, backed by a supporting cast of Shiv Panditt, Shataf Figar, Nikitin Dheer, Pranay Pachauri, Raj Arjun, Sahil Vaid, Pawan Chopra, and Anil Charanjeett.

The official synopsis of the film, which is produced by Dharma Productions, reads, “Shershaah is a story of valour, love and sacrifice, and is inspired by the life of Captain Vikram Batra (PVC)." The film celebrates his valiant spirit, according to the synopsis, and it honors his invaluable sacrifice in the Kargil War of 1999. "Staying true to his codename ‘Shershaah’, Captain Batra’s valiant fight and ultimate sacrifice was instrumental in India’s victory,” it concludes. More here.

Speaking about the film in a statement, filmmaker Karan Johar stated that this film is about a Kargil war hero's "invaluable" sacrifices as his life is an inspiration for generations to come. Shershaah is our homage to the valour of our soldiers and I hope every viewer’s heart swells with pride watching this film,” he added.
