Shaakuntalam, the eagerly anticipated mythological film starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu, has been once again postponed. The movie was supposed to be released on February 17, but the producers have now shared that the new release date will be revealed soon.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been in the news for the rare health condition she was diagnosed with for the last few months. Prabhu took a break to focus on her health and has received immense love and support from her friends in the industry and her vast fanbase. Prabhu took to Instagram to share her health update and let her fans and well-wishers know about being diagnosed with Myositis. She has shown resilience and power as she was open and vulnerable about it. Her film Yashoda was released in 2022 after her diagnosis and she geared up for the promotion of the film and told her fans that she is ready for the fight.
Prabhu is inspired by the positive support she received and is looking forward to this new year with the hope of better health and more work. She posted on Instagram a few days back a selfie of herself and wrote, "Function forward… Control what we can!! Guess it’s time for newer and easier resolutions.. ones that are kinder and gentler on ourselves. God bless 🫶🏻 Happy 2023!!"
Shaakuntalam Details
Shaakuntalam is directed by Gunasekhar, it is a mythological film based on the famous legend of Kalidasa named Abhijana Shakuntalam. The film will feature Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead along with Dev Mohan playing the role of Dushyanta. Other actors cast in the film include Aditi Balan, Madhoo, Kabir Bedi, Prakash Raj, Ananya Nagalla, Jisshu Sengupta, Mohan Babu, Kabir Duhan Singh and others. The film will be available in many languages - Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
The film was set to release in November 2022 but the makers decide to provide the audience with an option to enjoy the film in 3D as well, so they pushed the release to 2023.
