Netflix recently announced the release date for its latest drama series 'Scoop' directed by Hansal Mehta. Written by Mirat Trivedi and Mrunmayee Lagoo Waikul, the series features some interesting actors from the industry and is based on real-life events.
Scoop is inspired by the book Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison written by crime journalist Jigna Vora.

The cast and crew of the series took to their respective social media accounts to share a peak into what's coming. Actor Karishma Tanna took to her Instagram to share the announcement. She wrote, "While chasing headlines, Jagruti became one. Will this journalist be able to fight for her truth?" Tanna plays crime journalist Jagruti in the series, a character inspired by Jigna Vora.
Tanna was last seen Prime Video's thriller Hush Hush in 2022. She garnered praise for her role as a police officer investigating a murder in the series.
The much-awaited series is created by Hansal Mehta and Mrunmayee Lagoo Waikul and is produced by Matchbox Shots, Dikssha Jyote Routray and Sarita Patil.
Apart from Karishma Tanna and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub's prominent roles, the series also includes a talented line up including Tejasvini Kolhapure, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Shikha Talsania, Ira Dubey, Ishita Arun, Sanat Vyas, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Harman Baweja, Deven Bhojani, Tanmay Dhanania, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Inayat Sood, Swaroopa Ghosh and Malhar Thakar.
After the tremendous success of Scam 1992, Mehta is all set to decode a conspiracy that shook the nation and involved workings in the world of crime and how some crime journalists get involved in the story. In the teaser, Tanna is heard saying, "Problem yeh hai, ki either you break a story or the story breaks you.”
Jigna Vora's book, which was released in 2019, is a narrative of her account of her time behind bars after she was detained by Mumbai police in 2011 for allegedly being privy to the murder of journalist J Dey’s murder. She was acquitted of all charges seven years later.
The series will make its debut on the OTT streaming platform Netflix on June 2, 2023.
