All about Ray release date, cast and streaming details: Directors Abhishek Chaubey, Srijit Mukherji and Vasan Bala have come together to direct four short stories by iconic filmmaker Satyajit Ray, which centres on themes of "love, lust, betrayal and truth". Netflix has shared a teaser and first look images of its upcoming anthology last month. Based on Ray’s intriguing short stories, Ray will explore "vulnerabilities and multiple shades of each character," says a press release. The series will premiere on the OTT platform on June 25.
Ray stars a plethora of familiar actors from the Hindi and Bengali film industries. One of the leads, Manoj Bajpayee took to his Twitter handle and shared the six-second long clip of the anthology. Actor Shweta Basu Prasad too wrote on Twitter, "My next #Ray an anthology of four films based on #SatyajitRay stories, premiers on 25th June @NetflixIndia."

The four stories are titled Hungama Hai Kyon Barpa, Forget Me Not, Bahrupiya and Spotlight.
Release Date
Ray is set for a June 25 digital release on Netflix. Each segment in the anthology is based on a story penned by Satyajit Ray. Two of the featuring stories will be helmed by famous Bengali director Srijit Mukherji. Other segments of the anthology will be helmed by Abhishek Chaubey and Vasan Bala.
Cast
Ray features actors Manoj Bajpayee, Ali Fazal, Shweta Basu Prasad and Kay Kay Menon in lead roles. The supporting cast includes Gajraj Rao, Anindita Bose, Bidita Bag, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Harshvarrdhan Kapoor, Radhika Madan, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Akansha Ranjan Kapoor.
“Excited to be a part of Ray – an anthology of four passionately curated stories," read Rao’s Twitter post, also adding that the anthology will keep the viewers "completely hooked till the end."
Rao will be sharing screen space with Bajpayee in Hungama Hai Kyon Barpa, directed by Chaubey. Expressing his excitement to work with Bajpayee in an interview with Pinkvilla, he had said, “I was really excited to work with Manoj (Bajpayee), because I had worked a lot with him during our theatre days. Basu Prasad will appear in a segment titled Forget Me Not, directed by Mukherji. Her character's name is Rhea, a mysterious woman who meets Ipsit, a “cutthroat corporate shark” and the story unfolds from there. It also features actor Anindita Bose in a supporting role. Mukherji has also directed episode three Bahrupiya, featuring Kay Kay Menon and 29-year-old actor Bidita Bag.
Bala’s feature Spotlight will see Harshvarrdhan Kapoor, Radhika Madan, Sanyal and Akansha Ranjan Kapoor in starring roles.
Where To Watch
Ray is just one of the many offerings the streaming giant unveiled during the What’s Next India event earlier this year. It will stream exclusively on Netflix. Anyone with a subscription will be able to watch the series on June 25.
