Saba Ali Khan, sister of Saif Ali Khan shared her views on the film Mimi starring Kriti Sanon on surrogacy with mixed emotions. Was the film realistic? Some doctors have come out to question the way the film talked of surrogacy and Saba urged her followers to watch the video.
She wrote in the caption while sharing the video, "Enjoyed Mimi... But, it is important to understand this subject... correctly."
An In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) doctor made a video about the misinformation about surrogacy in Mimi. He captioned the video as, "MiMi movie review by a IVF doc. MIMI the new film, how it totally fails to represent facts around a complex and important topic od surrogacy in our country. Hear the video for more details. (sic)"
In the video, the IVF doctor starts by saying, "The moment I saw the trailer of Mimi...I knew this movie was going to be a complete misrepresentation of surrogacy...It is appalling to see the amount of misinformation this movie presents to us with."
He further added, "In fact, it is sad to see the makers and the writers, before making a film on such a complex and sensitive subject, have not taken even an inch of an effort to research the facts and the laws and the regulations that move around surrogacy in our country."
He also said that if the makers of the film would have taken five minutes to Google surrogacy laws in India then they would have realised that "their entire movie was based on false statements and false information."
Mimi is a movie about surrogacy and motherhood starring Kriti Sanon in the lead role along with Pankaj Tripathi, Manoj Pahwa, Sai Tamhankar and Supriya Pathak. The film was released early instead of July 30 as it was leaked online.
