The official synopsis for Season 2 of the show suggests that it will take place four years after the first season. Nadia (Lyonne) breaks free from the birthday time loop. She will continue to explore existential themes via a sci-fi and frequently comedic lens. This season finds Nadia and Alan exploring deeper into their pasts through an unforeseen time portal found in one of Manhattan's most notorious sites, discovering a fate far worse than unending death.

Lyonne and Barnett will reprise their roles as the series' protagonists. Greta Lee, Elizabeth Ashley, and Yul Vazquez are among the returning cast members. Annie Murphy, Sharlto Copley, and Carolyn Michelle Smith are said to be joining the cast of the forthcoming season.
