Russian Doll new season is just around the corner and expectations of the show's fans are soaring high. From potential plot twists to complications in love friendships and more, every possible scenario and theory is being discussed.
Russian Doll season 2 was announced in June 2019 after the show's season 1 received worldwide praise, also scoring four Emmy nominations. The show is created by Natasha Lyonne, Leslye Headland and Amy Poehler. Season 1 of the show revolved around a woman stuck in a time loop where she repeatedly goes back to her 36th birthday party only to die. Going back to the same night, same party and events, she eventually comes across a man who is also stuck in a similar situation. The show offered a take on love, loneliness, isolation and our understanding of what makes life worth living.
Russian Doll New Season Expectations?
In Russian Doll season 1, Natasha Lyonne plays the role of Nadia Vulvokov- a game developer who steers clear of long term relationships. At her 36th birthday party, she enjoys a fun night drinking and partying, but on her way back home, she gets into an accident and dies. Surprisingly she returns to the bathroom at the venue of her party. She knows something is not right and tries to do things differently to avoid death, but one way or the other, she ends up dying and has to start all over again.

Nadia is not alone though, and she soon meets Alan Zaveri (played by Charlie Barnett) who is also stuck in a time loop but in a different situation. Towards the end of season 1, Nadia and Alan finally manage to break the time loop and find love in the process. But will this relationship last long, given their history?
In the new season, the duo will be time travelling again, but this time, they'll go back by decades. The trailer of Russian Doll season 2 dropped on April 5 where we saw Nadia travelling to the 80's when she boards a subway.
It turns out that a portal in Manhattan's East Village takes her to the year 1982. But why this exact time period? Are there any family secrets that Natash must deal with, in order to avoid bigger catastrophes in her current life? Will this time travel reveal why she and Alan were the ones stuck in the loop, getting multiple chances to set their lives straight?
There is much more to the Russian Doll season 2 than we can decipher from the trailer and we will only get to solve many mysteries revolving around the show when it releases on April 20, 2022.
