Karan Johar Announces A New Release Date For 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani'

Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani is Dharma Productions' next project starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt and directed by Karan Johar. This film will be the on-screen couple's second movie together after the 2019 hit film Gully Boy.

Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani is one of Karan Johar's ambitious projects that he announced in 2021. The movie is said to be a romance drama with Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in titular roles and actors like Shabana Azmi, Jaya Bachchan and Dharmendra playing pivotal roles. The movie also stars some renowned faces of the Indian television industry like Arjun Bijlani, Sriti Jha, Shraddha Arya and Arjit Taneja. The movie started its shooting schedule on August 20, 2021, and went on for a year in locations like Moscow, Mumbai and Delhi.

Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani Release Date

Bringing an end to the audience's anticipation, the film's director Karan Johar shared a note on his Instagram account along with the official release date of the film. In his note to the audience, he wrote, "After 7 years, its time for me to return to my first home - the cinemas. I had the absolute honour of working with not one, but many illustrious actors on the set of my 7th film. The familial nostalgic feeling of an ensemble cast, creating music that captivates the hearts and a story that runs deep to the roots of our family traditions."

The director continues his note and writes, "It's that time again - to huddle with your family and friends, buy the popcorn and witness just sheer love and entertainment unfold on the big screen. We're overwhelmed and impatiently excited to finally inform..." and the poster ends with the title of the film and its release date at the end. The post was captioned, "My heart is filled with excitement and gratitude…#RockyAurRaniKiPremKahani releasing in cinemas near you on 28th April, 2023!"

Karan Johar has kept the audience engaged in the filmmaking process by sharing behind-the-screen clips from the shoots. The release date for the film was earlier set to be February 10, 2023, but due to Alia Bhatt's pregnancy, the shooting of one song was left which was delayed, resulting in postponing the release.
