What Are The New Charges Against Rhea Chakraborty And Others?

In connection with a drugs case connected to the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Wednesday filed draft charges against actor Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, and others before a special court. Atul Sarpande, a special public prosecutor, stated that the prosecution continued to bring charges against each and every defendant as set forth in the charge sheet submitted to the court.

The prosecution has asked the court to indict Rhea and Showik for consuming drugs as well as for obtaining and paying for them on behalf of the late actor Rajput. According to Sarpande, the court was going to file charges against each defendant. However, it was impossible because some of the accused filed for discharge. According to what the court has stated, the charges won't be filed until the discharge pleas have been resolved, he added.

Rhea Chakraborty New Charges

On Wednesday, the court heard from all of the defendants, including Rhea. The case was posted for hearing on July 12 by special judge V G Raghuwanshi, who hears matters involving the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

In the case, Chakraborty was detained in September 2020. Nearly a month after her arrest, the Bombay High Court granted her bail.

Rhea, her brother Showik Chakraborty, and a number of other people are also charged with drug usage, possession, and funding in the case. The majority of them are on bail.

Following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, 34, who was discovered hanging in his flat in the district of Bandra on June 14, 2020, the central agency has been looking into the alleged drug use in the Bollywood and television industries.

The CBI is looking into the circumstances surrounding his death.

After the actor passed away, Sushant's partner Rhea, her brother Showik, and other people were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. On June 14, 2020, he was discovered dead in his apartment in the Bandra suburbs. The Central Bureau of Investigation is looking into the death case, and the anti-drugs bureau has been looking into the drugs angle (CBI). The central organisation has not yet determined if the actor's unexpected death was a suicide.
