Rashmika Mandanna upcoming films: Actor Rashmika Mandanna turns 25 today. The multilingual actor will be making her Hindi film debut with Mission Majnu featuring Sidharth Malhotra. The actor will be shooting for her second Hindi film Goodbye on her birthday, working alongside Amitabh Bachchan.
Here's everything you should know about Rashmika Mandanna's upcoming films in Bollywood:
1. The shooting for Mandanna's upcoming thriller titled Mission Majnu began in February 2021. The film, which is set in the 1970s, will star the Student of the Year actor Sidharth Malhotra in the lead. The film is said to be inspired by real events. Sharing the first look of the film, Mandanna wrote, “Well guys, here’s news for you! I’m super glad and excited to be a part of this! Here’s to a new journey!”
2. Earlier this year, both Mandanna and Malhotra, who could be seen holding the film scripts in hand, shared a picture from the film's set and announced their collaboration. Mission Majnu will mark Mandanna's debut project in Bollywood. She has predominantly worked in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada films, including Sarileru Neekevvaru, Kirik Party, Devadas and Geetha Govindam.
3. In an interview, Mandanna said she chose Mission Majnu as her Bollywood debut as she connected with its story. “As an actor, it is always the story of the film that I connect with, and the language of the film is never a barrier for me." The actor further expressed her gratitude to the makers of the film for offering her the film, "which is written beautifully, and I am super excited to be part of a team that has so much passion."
4. Mission Majnu is being directed by ad filmmaker Shantanu Bagchi and is his first feature film as a director. The makers of the film had revealed that the story is of "India’s most courageous mission in the heart of Pakistan that forever changed the relationship between the two nations." The film, which will see Malhotra reprise the role of a RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) agent has been written by Parveez Shaikh, Aseem Arrora and Sumit Batheja. Mission Majnu will be shot extensively in Lucknow and Mumbai. Actors Sharib Hashmi and Kumud Mishra are also part of the thriller.
5. Mandanna, who recently featured in Badshah's new music video, Top Tucker, has already signed her second Goodbye, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan. “This time it is going to be a working birthday for me. It is going to be super exciting working on a new project with the biggest people, it's going to be one of a time!” Mandanna revealed when asked how she plans to celebrate her birthday.
6. The mahurat shot of the film took place on Thursday, April 1. Mandanna shared pictures from the film's set in a tweet and wrote, “I love it when it’s all about performing and this is one such project. Thrilled to be a part of this amazing journey #Goodbye (sic)!”
7. On working with veteran actor Bachchan, Mandanna said, “I’m truly grateful to be working with Mr Bachchan, and never did I think that I’d be sharing the screen space with sir so early on in my career. I am totally looking forward to the shoot to start off with him and to make as many memories as possible and have fun. I am sure to learn a lot from him," said the Mission Majnu actress, adding that she is, "nervously excited to start working with sir on the sets of Goodbye. This is an opportunity I wouldn’t miss for the world and I’ll make the most out of it.” The film also stars Shivin Narang and Pavail Gulati.
8. According to reports, the producer of the film is Ekta Kapoor and it is directed by Vikas Bahl. Reportedly, the story of the movie revolves around the protagonist’s journey of self-discovery with a hint of humour. It is touted to be a father-daughter story. Actor Neena Gupta is reportedly also a part of the cast too.
9. Mandanna is also celebrating the success of her latest Tamil release Sulthan, which features Karthi in lead. "Sulthan is my Tamil debut and has become a big hit. This birthday, I think I just need to celebrate all the work that I'm doing, I am so grateful for it,” shared the 25-year-old actor.
10. The first look from her upcoming Telugu movie, Aadavallu Meeku Johaarlu, co-starring Sharwanand and directed by Tirumala Kishore, has also been dropped on her birthday. Check out the picture below:
