Rashmi Rocket Cast, OTT Release Date: All You Wanted To Know

Rashmi Rocket cast: Taapsee Pannu's upcoming film on gender testing, that many women athletes have been subjected to, will be releasing this month. Pannu underwent an immense physical transformation for the film, to get an athlete's body. Her photos and videos showcasing the transformation went viral on social media.

Directed by Akarsh Khurana, who has previously helmed films like High Jack and Karwaan, the film touches on subjects like gender verification testing and hyperandrogenism, which haven't been showcased in Hindi sports dramas so far. In 2014,  Indian ace sprinter Dutee Chand was dropped from the Indian contingent headed for the Commonwealth Games after the Athletic Federation of India revealed that she suffered from hyperandrogenism- a condition that leads to the production of high levels of androgens in women. Chand went on to challenge The International Association of Athletics Federations guidelines and emerged victorious, gaining back her way to the track.

However, the writer of Rashmi Rocket, Aniruddha Guha said in a recent interview that the film is not Chand's story, "Our film is a tribute to several sportswomen around the world who've had to undergo gender testing and bear the social and psychological ramifications that come attached with this archaic practice."

Rashmi Rocket Cast

The film will see Taapsee Pannu in lead, as Rashmi- a Gujarat based sprinter whose career is cut short abruptly by gender testing. Veteran actor Supriya Pathak will be seen as Rashmi's mother, while Priyanshu Painyuli, known for his performance in season 2 of Mirzapur, will be seen as Rashmi's supportive husband.

Actor Abhishek Banerjee, known for his performance in films like Stree, Dream Girl and Made In China, and the web series Paatal Lok, will also be seen in an important role.

Rashmi Rocket will have an OTT release on October 15, on the occasion of Dushera.

Rashmi Rocket will be released exclusively on ZEE5. Anyone with a valid subscription to the platform can stream it from the said date.
