Ramayan Returns: Popular mythological show Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan has once again returned to the small screen. Actor Dipika Chikhlia, who essayed the role of Sita in the show, shared the news about Ramayan's small screen return on Instagram. The show was originally aired between 1987 and 1988. For decades people have associated Sita with Chikhlia, despite her donning many other roles.

How to Watch Ramayan?

Chikhlia took to Instagram on Thursday and shared the news of the show's comeback on the small screen. It was re-aired last year on DD National after 33 years on public demand. She invited fans to watch the Ramanand Sagar directorial which is currently airing every day on Star Bharat at 7 pm.

The show was in big demand during the lockdown of 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. It's going to be aired all again in 2021 as well. To which Chikhlia said, “So excited to share that Ramayan will be airing on the small screens again this year! Ramayan aired during the lockdown last year, and looks like history is repeating itself. The show has been a huge part of not just my life, but thousands of Indian families for years. Come be a part of our community and share the knowledge of the Ramayan with generations to come. Tune in to Star Bharat everyday at 7pm to watch Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Ramayan’.”

Sharing this news with her fans on Instagram, Chikhlia wrote, "So excited to share that Ramayan will be airing on the small screens again this year" mainly due to the surge in daily COVID-19 cases in India. She went on to claim that the show "aired during the lockdown last year, and looks like history is repeating itself."

The Iconic Cast of Ramayan

Ramayan featured Arun Govil as Ram, Dipika Chikhlia as Sita and Sunil Lahri as Lakshman. The show propelled its stars to instant fame that has managed to last for decades. "The show has been a huge part of not just my life, but thousands of Indian families for years. Come be a part of our community and share the knowledge of the Ramayan with generations to come," Chikhlia said.

One exited fan wrote, “Just can't express how blessed we are, to witness this epic. A show…which seems to be soo real, with all those perfect expressions, emotions. U guys are truly Legends. Thanks for making our lockdown a blessing. Lots of love and respect to all.”

Apart from the leads, the show featured Lalita Pawar as Manthara, Arvind Trivedi as Ravana and Dara Singh as Hanuman.
