Pushpa Story, release details revealed: Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Pushpa: The Rise smashed the box office despite numerous restrictions like 50 percent occupancy in cinema halls. However, there are many viewers who ditched the theatres due to concerns over COVID-19 cases. The wait for these viewers is over, as Pushpa: The Rise will be hitting OTT this week.
The film is a fictional drama based on the lives of red sandalwood smugglers in the Seashachalam hills of Andhra Pradesh. Its Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam version was released a few weeks back along with its Hindi version, which opened to massive response in theatres. The film has been going steady in all languages for the past four weeks.
Pushpa: The Rise also stars popular Malayalam film actor Fahadh Faasil, who is making his Telugu debut with this project.

Reportedly, Mandanna hiked her remuneration and has demanded higher pay for the second part of the film franchise. She was reportedly given Rs 2 crore for the first part of the series, but now seeks Rs 3 crore for the second part which is Pushpa: The Rule. The second part of the series was announced by the film's director Sukumar recently, and is expected to go on the floors in February. The makers of the film are planning to release the sequel by the end of 2022.
What is Pushpa: The Rise About?
The film's storyline revolves around a truck driver who is involved in the smuggling of red sanders trees that grow in Seesachalam forest of Andhra Pradesh. It is titled after the main character played by Allu Arjun, Pushpa.
Born out of wedlock and having faced many hardships through his initial years, Pushpa is not only ambitious but ruthless as well. During his rise to power as a smuggler, Pushpa makes enemies, finds love in Srivalli (played by Mandanna) and is chased by a corrupt IPs officer Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat. How Pushpa still manages to consolidate his position as a smuggler forms the crux of the film.

Cast
Other than Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna in the lead role and the film also features Malayalam film actor Fahadh Faasil, making his Telugu debut with the project, The film will also stars Harish Uthaman, Jagapathi Babu, Prakash Raj, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Ajay Ghosh, Vennela Kishore and Rao Ramesh in supporting roles. This multi-lingual filmhas been produced by Mythri Movies Makers in collaboration with Muttamsetty Media.
There were rumours that makers might opt for Bollywood stars for the second part of the film but it has been reported that Allu Arjun is "enough of a pan-India star." The sequel will also reportedly have Faasil in a bigger role and it will have more physical and emotional combats between Faasil and Allu Arjun.

The film will be released in Hindi on Amazon Prime Video on January 14.
