Model, actor, and producer Priyanka Chopra showed her support for former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen when she slammed trolls for calling her a “gold digger”. Businessman Lalit Modi confirmed that he and Sen were in a relationship on social media and netizens took to trolling the couple and calling Sen a “gold digger” for her relationship with Modi.
Founder of Indian Premier League (IPL) Lalit Modi shared pictures of himself and Sen on social media and described her as his “better half”. Social media users initially believed that the couple had gotten married until Modi clarified that he and Sen were dating and had not gotten married. He added, “That too it will happen one day”.

Social media users took to trolling Modi and Sen and claimed that Sen was only with him for his money. Sen took to social media and slammed the trolls for their regressive thinking and Priyanka Chopra took to the comment section to extend her support to Sen.
Model and actor Sushmita Sen took to Instagram and shared a picture of herself with a caption that slammed the people that called her a “gold digger”. In the caption, Sen described the trolls as “so called intellectuals” and called them out for their regressive views and judgement. She said it was "heartbreaking to see how miserable and unhappy the world around us is becoming".
Sen mentioned her words from an old interview where she said she bought her own diamonds and that she didn’t need a man for that. She said "I've always (famously) preferred Diamonds" and added that she still buys them for herself.
In an earlier post, Sen had posted an image of herself and spoken about the “power of noise cancellation” after trolls began attacking her and the IPL founder for their relationship.
Chopra wrote, “Tell em Queen!” with a fire emoji on Sen’s Instagram post. She was one of many actors and netizens that took to commenting on Sen’s post to give their support. Actors Dia Mirza, Suniel Shetty, Neha Dhupia, and Ranveer Singh also gave their support to Sen.
