'Prithviraj' To Release In Theatres In June, Meet the Cast Here

Akshay Kumar took his social media platform to premiere the trailer for Prithviraj, his most anticipated film. The trailer was released today, and it provided an insight into Prithviraj's cast.

The trailer released on May 9 opens with Akshay Kumar's Prithiviraj getting crowned as the emperor of Delhi in a big ceremony. It then follows celebratory scenes which are intertwined with the blossoming love story of Sanyogita, Prithviraj's wife. Manushi Chillar's Sanyogita receives a great deal of screen space in the two-minute-long trailer.

The trailer shows their relationship before the battlefield scenes. Watch the trailer ">here. Prithviraj is directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, a well-known director who was recently awarded the Padma Shri. Yash Raj Films is in charge of the production.

Prithviraj Cast

Prithviraj Chauhan was a warrior king of the Chauhan dynasty. The role is played by Akshay Kumar in the film. While, Sanjay Dutt plays Kaka Kanha, Prithviraj Chauhan's uncle and a legendary warrior. He allegedly promised that if someone touched his moustache in front of him, he would cut off his head or die.

Sonu Sood plays poet Chand Bardai, who wrote the Brajbhasa story, Prithviraj Raso, about the life of ruler Prithviraj Chauhan and is also his close aide. In the film, Manushi Chhillar is making her debut by playing the role of Sanyogita, who was one of Prithviraj Chauhan's three wives and was the daughter of Jaichand, the King of Kannauj. The love story of Prithviraj and Samyukta is one of India's most popular mediaeval love stories in 'Prithviraj Raso'.

In the supporting roles, Manav Vij portrays Muhammad Ghori, Ashutosh Rana portrays Jayachandra aka Jaichand, Lalit Tiwari portrays Anangpal Tomar, and Govind Pandey portrays Pajawan.

Prithviraj Release Date:

The film was initially scheduled to release on November 13, 2020. The producers were forced to postpone it because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Later, it was announced the film would be released in theatres on January 21 this year but was deferred again because of the pandemic.

The film is now scheduled for release on June 3, 2022. Along with Hindi, the film will also be released in Tamil and Telugu.
