Pratyusha Paul Online Harassment Case: Bengali television actor Pratyusha Paul has filed a complaint alleging rape threats on social media following which the cyber cell of Kolkata Police has launched an investigation.
On Saturday, July 10, the actor reportedly received a message on her social media account at 6 pm threatening her with rape, and received the message again at 10 am Sunday. Paul alleges she has been receiving rape threats on her social media account for about a year.

1. Actor Pratyusha Paul has reportedly been receiving rape threats on her social media for about a year and has filed a complaint regarding it.
2. The cyber cell of the Kolkata Police has launched an investigation and a case has been registered under sections of the Information Technology Act and 354 A (sexual harassment), 354 D (assault or criminal force against a woman), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (an act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the IPC.
3. The police has sent an email seeking information on the whereabouts of the sender to authorities of the social media platform where Paul received the threat.
4. No arrest regarding the case has been made yet.
5. According to The Indian Express, the actor told a news channel that the cyber cell has sent an email to Instagram and has asked her to "wait as these things take time." She further said that she has no choice other than to wait.
6. Paul has been receiving rape threats and obscene messages on her social media by a particular user.
7. She said that she was told that as a public person, such things happen and she should not pay attention to it.
8. The actor initially blocked the said user but he would threaten her again by making a new account.
9. Paul said that she has blocked the person at least 30 times on the platform but he created a new account the 31st time.
10. Her mother went to the Lalbazar Police Station for the second time.
