10 Things We Know About The Pracheen Chauhan Case

Pracheen Chauhan molestation case: Television actor Pracheen Chauhan was arrested on Saturday, July 3, on the charges of molestation by the Kurar Police. The case against Chauhan has been registered on the basis of a complaint by a 22-year-old woman. According to the complaint, the woman alleged that he touched her inappropriately, after which Chauhan was arrested from his home.

Pracheen Chauhan is a television actor who is known for working in daily soaps like Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat, Ssshhhh… Koi Hai, Kyun Hota Hai Pyarr, Yeh Hai Aashiqui, Laal Ishq, The Adventures of Hatim, Shaadi Mubarak, Saat Phere: Saloni Ka Safar, and Sindoor Tere Naam Ka.

1. Pracheen Chauhan was arrested by Kurar Police for allegedly molesting a 22-year-old woman in Malad East.

2. The woman who accused Chauhan, alleged that he touched her inappropriately.

3. According to Prakash Vele, who is a Senior Inspector at Kurar Police station, said that the woman approached the police and alleged that Chauhan touched her inappropriately in an inebriated state.

4. Senior Inspector Vele told mid-day that they have registered an FIR and has arrested the accused from his house.

5. The actor has been charged with sections of Indian Penal Code - 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), and 506(2) (punishment for criminal intimidation).

6. The police refused to divulge further details.

7. The arrest of Chauhan comes just weeks after the arrest of another popular television actor Pearl V Puri.

8. Puri was arrested on the basis of an alleged rape complaint filed under the Protection of Child from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

9. Puri was arrested by the police on June 5 along with five others in connection with the case.

10. After 11-day judicial custody, he was granted bail on June 15 by a Vasai Court.
