Politicians pay tribute to Dilip Kumar: Actor Dilip Kumar passed away due to his prolonged illness at the age of 98 on the morning of July 7, 2021. The actor was admitted to Hinduja Hospital's non-COVID facility on Tuesday, after his condition worsened due to prolonged illness.

The news of his demise was shared from the late actor's official Twitter account by his close friend Faisal Farooqui, "With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, a few minutes ago. We are from God and to him, we return. (sic)"

The actor was also previously admitted to the same hospital a month ago after having episodes of breathlessness and had a drop in oxygen saturation.

After the news of Dilip Kumar's death, several politicians of the country came forward to give their tributes to the late actor.

General Secretary of the Indian National Congress, Priyanka Gandhi remembered the late actor and extended her condolences to the family and loved ones of the actor.

 

The Union Cabinet Minister for Textiles and Women & Child Development, Smriti Irani called the death of the actor, the "end of an era".

 

Paying tribute to Dilip Kumar, Member of Parliament and Deputy Leader of Shiv Sena, Priyanka Chaturvedi, wrote that legends never die, and they live forever in our hearts and minds. Extending her condolences, she wished strength to his wife Saira Banu and his loved ones.

National Spokesperson of the Indian National Congress Supriya Shrinate also paid tribute to the late actor and wrote, "His magic lives on."

Member of Parliament Nusrat Jahan remembered the actor and wrote that it was the end of an era, but the late actor will be loved and missed forever.

Remembering Kumar's contribution to the industry, another National Spokesperson of the Indian National Congress, Dr Shama Mohamed wrote on her Twitter handle that Dilip Kumar was not just one of the greatest actors in the Indian cinema but was a legend who paved the way for future generations actors and filmmakers. She further wrote that India has lost its finest superstar and not just Bollywood but the entire country will be "poorer without Dilip saab".
