Kaur posted a picture of her transformation back to her normal body on Instagram with a caption acknowledging her hard journey towards weight gain. Nimrat Kaur played the role of Bimla Devi in Dasvi. The actor has been highly appreciated by the audience for her acting skills. The film was released on April 7, 2022, on Netflix.

Nimrat Kaur on gaining weight mentioned that there isn't a "bite-sized" version of her 10-month journey. She further continued by acknowledging her small to medium size body type due to which she had to gain extra to meet the requirements of the role. "The idea being to be as unrecognisable and physically as dissimilar from 'being Nimrat' as possible," she wrote.

The actor admitted that she was petrified at the thought of being so dissimilar from her regular self and the reality of owning and embracing herself that way. Yet, she mentioned that the support of her loved ones helped her get through the phase.

"This is about what I began to notice along the way. Ever so often, watching me eat high-calorie meals already being a few sizes bigger, some people around me felt they had the right to comment on what they thought I was doing wrong," she added as she was often subjected to an uncalled joke, a bit of unsolicited advice or rather a snide remark over her eating habits.

Talking about her journey of weight loss, she remarked that the journey helped her realise that she shouldn't let an outside perspective influence her personal choices.

Kaur on gaining weight said, "I share this to add to the larger dialogue of how we could all do with more mindfulness, sensitivity and empathy. Especially towards those who don't fit in the myopic, pigeonhole prototype of what the 'norm' expects them to be - whether it's being too dark, too thin, too short, too fat or too many of these berating measuring scales from the lens of the conditioning they come from." Why is it so common to body shame women? This practice has often led people to become insecure about their bodies as they develop body image issues over time. The unrealistic expectations about the body have led people to undermine themselves and lose their self-confidence when they are not able to abide by the societal expectations of how one must look. Society then lectures on what to eat, how to eat, how you look and what you should look like to appear desirable. It's high time we break this toxic cycle and embrace who we are by being kinder and more loving to our bodies and Nimrat Kaur has given a great lesson to learn from her experience.
