National Commission for Women(NCW) has issued a notice on January 11, taking cognisance of the derogatory comment by actor Siddharth made against news anchor Navika Kumar. On Monday, the Commission which is a nodal agency for addressing woman issues in the country also took into account the comment made by the actor on badminton player Saina Nehwal.
NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma has also written to Tamil Nadu's Director General of Police to take strict action against the actor in order to discourage him from making similar statements in future.
A tweet shared from the commission's official handle read, "@NCWIndia has taken cognisance of the derogatory remarks made in the post. Chairperson @sharmarekha has written to DGP #TamilNadu seeking intervention and appropriate action against the offender as per provisions of law to refrain him from making such kind of statements in future."
What did Siddharth tweet on Navika Kumar?
Siddharth had tweeted on Navika Kumar, along with a clip of the anchor talking about the breach in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's security during his recent visit to Punjab. The PM was stuck on a flyover in Ferozepur, while farmers protested in front of his convoy.
Siddharth had retweeted the clip featuring Navika Kumar along with the caption, "This woman is a Stoolkit. She will raise a stink for sure".

Siddharth is being trolled on social media for his tweet on shuttler Saina Nehwal which was slammed not just by the NCW, but also the player's husband, father and fans as well.
Nehwal too had tweeted on the security breach faced by PM Modi's convoy on January 5, writing how Prime Minister's security cannot be compromised in the country. "No nation can claim itself to be safe if the security of its own PM gets compromised. I condemn, in the strongest words possible, the cowardly attack on PM Modi by anarchists," she wrote.
He responded to Nehwal, writing, "Subtle cock champion of the world... Thank God we have protectors of India."
Later, the actor clarified it was the reference to "cock and bull, nothing disrespectful was intended". NCW chairperson wrote to the grievance officer of Twitter India, asking them to block the actor's account and take action for his offensive remarks against the shuttler.
