The story of the film revolves around Narappa, a farmer hailing from a quaint village in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, who faces oppression at hands of upper caste people and rises against it.
Priyamani plays Narappa's wife Sundaramma role in the movie. Directed by Srikanth Addala, the film also features Karthik Rathnam and Rajsekhar Aningi in important roles. The two-minute trailer also gives us clarity as to what one can expect from the film. But will it do justice to the original or will it push the envelope further? These questions will be answered when the film arrives on the digital streaming platform later this month.
S Suresh Babu, the producer of the film, had earlier revealed how "stimulating" and "enriching experience" it was to have worked with such talented stars and a highly creative crew. The story of Narappa, he said, narrates a social commentary on the system as a whole. In these unprecedented times, the cast and crew have put in a lot of effort and heart into making sure this film comes to life, added producer Kalaippuli S. Thanu. He mentioned that this film is a perfect blend of a mindfully crafted storyline, phenomenal direction, and brilliant performances.
For Asuran, lead star Dhanush won the national award for best actor this year. Narappa was originally slated for release in theatres for Eid this May.
