Actor Shweta Tiwari is being criticised on social media for her remark about God during the promotion of her upcoming web series Show Stopper in Bhopal. During the event, she said that her bra size is being taken by God. The actor is being criticised for mentioning God while talking about her inner-wear.

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narrotam Mishra has demanded a probe against Shweta Tiwari’s bra comment. Here’s what we know about the controversy:

1. During the promotion event of upcoming web series Show Stopper, Shweta Tiwari made a remark about her bra saying, “Meri bra ka size bhagwaan le rahe hain.” (God is taking my bra size.)
2. Video of Shweta Tiwari’s bra comment is going viral on social media as people are criticising her for mentioning God while talking about her innerwear.
3. Madhya Pradesh Home Minister condemned Tiwari’s comment saying, “I have heard it and I strongly condemn it. I have directed the police commissioner of Bhopal to probe it and give a report within 24 hours,” he said.
4. The Minister has given the police 24 hours to investigate and file a report against the actor.
5. Show Stopper actors Sourabh Raaj Jain, Rohit Roy and Digangana Suryavanshi were also present at the press conference when Tiwari made her remarks about her bra.
6. Shweta Tiwari’s bra comment was referring to actor Sourabh Raaj Jain’s famous character of Lord Krishna that he played in TV show Mahabharat and will be seen as a bra fitter in the web series.
7. Chandrashekhar Tiwari, belonging to Sanskriti Bachao Manch, has asked for an apology from the actor over her ‘inappropriate’ remarks.
8. Sanskriti Bachao Manch also protested against Shweta Tiwari in Bhopal for her joke about God.
9. Amidst all the controversy, Shweta Tiwari uploaded a dancing video of hers on a viral song with lyrics ‘Kiss my a** goodbye’.
10. Tiwari released a statement over the controversy on January 28. She said that her comment was taken out of context and misconstrued. She said, "When put in context, one will understand that the statement in reference to ‘Bhagwan’ was in context with Sourabh Raj Jain’s popular role of a deity. People associate character names to actors and hence, I used that as an example during my conversation with media. However, it has been completely misconstrued which is saddening to see."
11. She added,"As someone who has been a staunch believer of ‘Bhagwan’ myself, there is no way that I would intentionally or unintentionally say or do any such thing that would hurt sentiments by and large. I have, however, come to understand that when taken out of context, it has unintentionally hurt feelings of people. Please be assured that it has never been my intention to hurt anyone, with my words or actions. Hence, I would like to humbly apologise for the hurt that the statement has unintentionally caused to a lot of people."
12. Bhopal police filed a case against Tiwari on Friday for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments with her comments. The case was filed after a local man lodged a complaint against her.
