Former Miss USA and lawyer Cheslie Kryst reportedly jumped to her death January 30 in Manhattan, New York. She was 30 and lived in a ninth-floor apartment on the high-rise Orion Building. She was last seen in the early hours of Sunday around 7 AM, alone on a terrace on the 29th floor. She was found dead on the street soon after.
The tragic suicide case has rocked the modelling industry, with the pageant winner's colleagues condoling her demise. Kryst's family has confirmed her death in a statement. Read here.
Reports suggest a suicide note was recovered, in which Kryst mentioned leaving behind everything for her mother April Simpkins, who is also a former beauty queen. The note, however, does not reveal a motive for the alleged suicide.

Kryst was crowned Miss USA in 2019 and finished in the top ten at the Miss Universe pageant that same year. Born in Michigan, Kryst was also an accomplished lawyer and television presenter. In the latter capacity, she worked with Extra news as a correspondent and was twice nominated for a Daytime Emmy.
In what many fans are calling chilling, Kryst's last post on Instagram was made not long before her death on Sunday. Her post featured a close-up picture of herself with the caption, "May this day bring you rest and peace ❤️"
Many colleagues and fellow celebrities are leaving messages of grief on the post's comments.
Beauty pageant winner Savvy Shields wrote, "Rest In Peace beautiful. You lead with so much love that will forever inspire. 🤍" Mariel Swan commented, "💔💔💔 Rest In Peace Beautiful Soul." Television anchor Destiny Chance wrote, "💔💔 I’m just so sorry. We love you Cheslie. 🙏🏾"

As per a report by New York Post, Kryst was found dead on the street below Orion, a luxury residential property, around 7:15 AM. Sources told the publication that she was spotted alone on a terrace around the time of her death. In the past, Kryst had opened up on the importance of mental health and speaking to a counsellor.
