Malaika Bra Controversy : 4 Other Celebrities Questioned For Their Bra Related Choices

Malaika Bra Controversy: Actor Malaika Arora was trending all over on social media after a picture of her walking her dog was out. The headlines, however, informed people that the actor stepped out without a bra in a sweatshirt and track pants on the streets of Mumbai. This did not go down well with some netizens who trolled the actor for her choice of going braless.

This is not the first time when a female celebrity had to bear the brunt of people's narrow mindset. Here is a list of female celebrities who were questioned for their bra related choices.

1. Actor Samyuktha Hegde had accused Kavitha Reddy of assaulting and harassing her at a Bengaluru park in September 2020 for wearing a sports bra leading to the latter's arrest by Bengaluru Police. In her live, Hegde accused Reddy of saying, “Asshol*s, if you wear such clothes the next time and something happens to you, don’t come crying to anyone. This is what she told us.” According to Hegde, Reddy condemned the girls for “stripping in the public” and doing “cabaret dancing."
2. Saloni Chopra, in an interview with SheThePeople's founder Shaili Chopra, revealed that she has been questioned by her boyfriend about her choice of not wearing a bra. She didn't pay heed to him because for her wearing a bra or being braless is one's choice.  "Wearing a bra is a very basic thing. Some women need it while some don't. It is as simple as that".
3. Meena Harris, the niece of US Vice President Kamala Harris and a Harvard graduated lawyer and social media star, was trolled for one of her tweets which read, "I hate bras so much now I don’t care if I have 5 mins between zooms I am taking that monster off". A user wrote, "You need to find a better bra and you need to not be broadcasting it what is wrong with you" while there were many who applauded her for talking about it. In 2020 too, she had tweeted, "My first time wearing a bra for more than three hours since COVID and I’m homicidal".
4. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Priya Ahuja who plays the role of Rita reporter in the show was trolled for posting a picture revealing her bra strap. The picture was clicked by her husband Malav Rajda, who is also the director of the sitcom. While sharing the picture, the Ahuja captioned it, “Whatever is good for your soul, just do that.” Many shamed her for exposing the bra strap. Few of the trolls even stooped low as they asked the actor to expose her breasts.
