Mahira Khan Criticised

Mahira responded on social media to a comment made by a user who had sarcastically suggested that everything would be "OK" if the star donated the outfits she wore to the event to the Pakistani flood victims. Mahira responded by saying that it was "never ok" for artists to do anything. The actress continued by saying she would photograph herself helping the flood victims, and she added that if people saw the photos, they would accuse her of "showing off doing charity."

Mahira, in response to the comment made by the user, tweeted, “It’s never ok for us – the artists of your country (Pakistan)! I have and will continue to do my part. If it makes you happy, I can take some pictures while at it. Oh, but then it’ll be – showing off doing charity. The unkind commentary never ends. You do you. I will do me.”

In response to Mahira's tweet, some people defended celebrities for attending the awards, claiming they were merely "doing their job," but others emphasised how the event might have been used to support and publicise rescue efforts as well as raise more funds for Pakistan flood victims. One tweet read, “I wish Hum TV had organised a show or a concert in Pakistan to raise funds awareness and solidarity for the flood victims instead of the annual awards show. Imagine all of Pakistanis artists collectively raising their voices for climate change and advocating for those impacted.”

The Legend of Maula Jatt, Mahira's upcoming movie, will release in Pakistan on October 13. Along with others, it features Humaima Mallick, Fawad Khan, and Hamza Ali Abbasi. Neelofar with Fawad is another project in the works for Mahira.
