Lady Gaga dognapping case: The Los Angeles Police Department has arrested the woman who returned Lady Gaga’s stolen French bulldogs.
She was among five people arrested in connection with the alleged robbery. They are also accused of shooting the music superstar’s dogwalker on February 24, Los Angeles police said Thursday.
The suspects are James Jackson (18), Jaylin White (19), Lafayette Whaley (27) — as described by LA police as "documented gang members", who targeted the bulldogs – which can run into the thousands of dollars. They reportedly told the police that they were not aware that Gaga was the owner. The other two aids — Harold White (40) and Jennifer McBride (50) — are also charged with assault. The 50-year-old woman is said to have returned the dogs unharmed to the police two nights later to collect the offer of a $500,000 reward. She was in a relationship with Harold White, who is Jaylin’s father, the police said. Harold White is also a gang member, police said.
My beloved dogs Koji and Gustav were taken in Hollywood two nights ago. My heart is sick and I am praying my family will be whole again with an act of kindness. I will pay $500,000 for their safe return. Email KojiandGustav@gmail.com to contact us. pic.twitter.com/3NY9u7Mw2K

Gaga’s French bulldogs — Koji and Gustav — were stolen in February when her dogwalker Ryan Fischer was reportedly shot by an unidentified thief who then escaped. Fischer survived and is said to be recovering from a gunshot wound. He had called the violence “a very close call with death”. He was walking Gaga’s three dogs in Hollywood just off Sunset Boulevard when he was attacked.
Jackson is accused of shooting Fischer and also faces charges of assault with a firearm and possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle, according to the LAPD.
“This was a brazen street crime that left a man seriously wounded,” said District Attorney George Gascón in a statement. “We have alleged very serious charges in this case and have faith that justice will be appropriately served as this case unfolds in court.”
Praising her dogwalker, Gaga had written in her Instagram post, “I continue to love you Ryan Fischer, you risked your life to fight for our family. You’re forever a hero.”
