Sanon, known for movies such as Heropanti, Bareilly Ki Barfi and Luka Chuppi, will be playing the role of a surrogate mother in the Laxman Utekar directorial venture. The makers of the film also announced its release date on social media.
Besides Sanon, Mimi stars Pankaj Tripathi, Sai Tamhankar, Supriya Tripathi and Manoj Pahwa in pivotal roles. After the success of Bareily ki Barfi and sharing the screen with Pankaj Tripathi for the second time in Luka Chuppi, Sanon will be starring alongside him for the third time in Mimi. More here.
Earlier, Sanon had shared the teaser of the film which shows the different stages of the pregnancy of her character, Mimi. It starts with an exciting first trimester and ends up in a stressful last month. The video also gives you a glimpse of the bond between Sanon and Tripathi.
Mimi chronicles an unconventional story about a surrogate mother. The Hindi remake is based on director Samruddhi Porey's film Mala Aai Vhaaychya, which won the National Award for the best feature film in Marathi in 2011. Talking about the film and her character, the Heropanti actor had earlier told IANS that it is based on the subject of surrogacy but actually it’s the story of this young girl who wants to be an actor. According to her, the character in the movie is a dancer, who aspires to be an actor and ends up being a surrogate mother for a couple. Her earlier post featured Sanon and a pregnancy bump, suggestively made with an inverted question mark. Her strange expression also adds fun to the drama. The story of Mimi revolves around the acceptance of the concept of surrogacy in India.
