Jaya Bachchan Birthday Special: Lookback At Her Stint As Successful Actor To Politician

Parliamentarian and veteran actor Jaya Bachchan birthday on April 9 will be her 74th. The veteran star means business when she is spotted in public and has maintained a serious aura around her. However, the grace that she exudes never ceases to amaze her fans. The Padma Shri awardee was one of the finest actors at one of point of Indian cinema. Jaya Bachchan, initially known by her maiden name Jaya Bhaduri, the actor was born into a literary family. Her father was a prolific author and poet Tarun Kumar Bhaduri. As a student, Jaya was very brilliant. Reportedly, she is a gold medallist from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.

Acting Debut and Life in Films

Since her debut in Satyajit Ray's film Mahanagar as a supporting character at age 15, Jaya Bachchan appeared in many films and outdid herself each time and thus was renowned for her prolific acting. She became an actor in her own right in the Hindi cinema industry after her film Guddi was released.

The actor is famous for her roles in Abhimaan, Anamika and commercially successful films like Jawani Diwani, Zanjeer and others. Jaya, reportedly, also wrote the script of the blockbuster film Shahenshah starring her husband, the powerhouse actor Amitabh Bachchan.

Surprisingly, the actor had met her husband Amitabh Bachchan even before he achieved fame in the Hindi cinema industry. Allegedly Jaya Bachchan met him on the sets of her film Guddi when the latter was still struggling to become an actor. She by then had established herself as an actor of calibre.

Allegedly, Jaya had then said that Amitabh Bachchan would achieve success and fame because of his acting skills. Her prediction was dismissed by others; however, things did change and he rose to popularity. Although it is not clear how their love story blossomed, reportedly, it was love at first sight for Amitabh Bachchan. The couple appeared in many blockbuster films like Chupke Chupke, Silsila, Zanjeer and others.

The actor took a sabbatical from acting after the year 1981 and since then has only appeared in select films like Fiza, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kal Ho Na Ho and others.

Jaya Bachchan’s Political Career

The actor began her political career in 2004 after she joined Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh. She is currently serving her fourth term as a Rajya Sabha member. As a member of Rajya Sabha, the actor-turned-politician has raised her voice for important subjects like manual scavenging, etc.
